Recently, a news confirmed that Al-HAJ FAW Motors has started the production of their best seller sedan called FAW V2 in Pakistan. This news also became as the bragging rights for many people to drag its reputation in the dirt for its valued consumers. Well, in this article I will try to highlight some extraordinary shortcomings and features of FAW V2 in the shape of a comparison with its presumed arch-rival Suzuki Swift. There is simply no doubt that Suzuki Swift car features a compact and well-manufactured design. This is also the reason why it is being liked by many consumers in Pakistan Automobile market. Before I move on I would like to point out that in this blog I will be doing a comparison between manual variants of both these popular sedan cars.
It is because V2 by FAW doesn’t come with automatic transmission. However, this lack of an automatic variant in FAW V2 is a bonus point for Suzuki Swift. Let us start with both these auto manufacturers, V2 was recently launched by FAW. It is a Chinese company which is being run under the flag of Al-Haj FAW in Pakistan. FAW Motors is considered one of the biggest auto manufacturers who is manufacturing cars in collaboration with Mazda, Toyota, Volkswagen and GM in China. On the other hand, Pak Suzuki has launched their Suzuki Swift well before the launch of FAW V2.
FAW V2 price in Pakistan is Rs.10,69,000 excluding factory charges which is fairly competitive as compared to other brand sedan cars available in Pakistan Automobile Industry. On the other hand, Suzuki Swift price in Pakistan of its manual variant is Rs.13,27,000 excluding factory charges. The price of Suzuki Swift automatic variant in Pakistan is Rs.14,63,000 excluding factory charges.
An engine is considered as the heart of any car and we certainly cannot neglect its importance. There are many consumers who will be thinking here that Suzuki Swift will take the lead here, though FAW V2 trumps its rival with its powerful variable cam timing engine and electronic throttle. However, many consumers value maintenance here as FAW V2 maintenance is high as compared to Suzuki Swift due to its simpleton wire throttle engine. Now let us discuss the performance, Suzuki Swift is tarnished for its extravagant stability on roads and pick up speed. The point here is that how Swift car’s 1.3 engine will beat the 1.0-liter engine of FAW V2? But without any doubt, FAW V2 performance is quite surprising as well as its pick up speed, which is all because of its lightweight as compared to Suzuki Swift.
Generally, this feature will certainly help Suzuki Swift to win over FAW V2 due to its compact design language. But sadly, V2 has managed to challenge the interior space of its rival with its 60mm long wheelbase, which overall gives an increased interior space for the passengers. Next thing to discuss is boot space, to keep it simple, FAW V2 clearly takes the lead here with its 320L boot space capacity as compared to 212L boot capacity of its presumed rival Suzuki Swift. However, Suzuki Swift offers more ground clearance as compared to V2. Though, both cars have ample amount of ground clearance margin over speed bumps.
When we talk about the security features of both these compact design cars, both go neck to neck in comparison. In the past, some people would have argued that Suzuki Swift would have taken the advantage over its presumed rival V2 with its “immobilizer”. However, now we have seen after recent updated in FAW V2 that it also now features immobilizer. Moreover, the safety features in FAW V2 include child safety airbags, ABS and EBD braking system. There is no cruise control in both these cars along with sun-roof is missing too. However, if we talk about the onboard equipment of both these cars, V2 takes a slight lead with its airbags. Though, when we talk about optional features, FAW V2 doesn’t feature satellite navigation but Suzuki Swift do.
The final verdict by me is that it clearly shows that FAW V2 trumps its presumed rival Suzuki Swift with its massive price difference as the price is considered as one of the vital factors for buying any car by consumers in the country. It is because FAW V2 is available at a competitive price as compared to Suzuki Swift. FAW V2 design language is seen as inspired by the first generation Toyota Vitz as it uses same body dimensions and engine capacity. Above all, the thing that differs FAW V2 from Swift car is the token charges. Apart from all this, I personally think that if FAW V2 had automatic transmission and satellite navigation it certainly would have helped it raise its sales in an effective manner. Despite all, FAW cars in Pakistan are getting a lot of popularity due to their competitive prices as compared to other brand automobiles with similar engine specs and features.
