Huawei was not able to launch as many smartphones at the recent Mobile World Congress 2018. Though, they are planning to set an event in Paris where they will be announcing a follow up to their recently launched mobile Huawei P10. In an interview with Digital Trends, CEO of Huawei Technologies Richard Yu was asked what we should expect from their upcoming devices.
Richard Yu the CEO of Huawei Technologies has announced that they will be launching two new smartphones which are Huawei P20 and Huawei P20 Pro at the event to be held in Paris. CEO said that new innovative camera technology will be used in these two new smartphones. The users will experience a much better camera in the new phones as compared to the phones which are already available in the smartphone industry. Along with the new and improved camera, battery life will also be improved as well as a new innovation in artificial intelligence. The Huawei’s Neural Processing Unit (NPU) will also be upgraded with a new software and more advanced AI features.
The new advancement has been made in the NPU and artificial intelligence are exciting as some of its features were limited to the already launched Huawei Mate 10 Pro, but was expected to be seen in future. The new development in the new phones is just not limited to this only as CEO of Huawei said that they will be launching a 5G phone that can be connected to 5G network at the end of 2019. The company has spent more than six hundred million dollars on the development and research on 5G. CEO of Huawei said that they have conducted 5G connectivity trials.
CEO has confirmed that a 5G smartphone launch will also come soon after the announcement of its 5G modem called Belong 5G01 modem, which is the first commercialized 5G chipset announced by any smartphone company. This new chipset will be ready in the third quarter of 2019, which means that Huawei will be set to launch its first 5G smartphone by the end of 2019. The CEO of Huawei Richard Yu said that they will launch Huawei P20 and P20 Plus in an event held in Paris on 27th March 2018.
