In the fast pace era of today, MPV (Multi-purpose vehicles) are in high demand among the consumers all across the globe. It is because of the fact people consider them as ultimate family cars. The MPVs are more like big hatchbacks which have been designed extensively to accommodate additional rows of people and can carry around 5-8 people with ease. In Pakistan, the story of buying MPVs is a bit different. Due to resale, consumers prefer to stick to popular MPVs instead of buying unknown brand MPVs available in the automobile industry. Here in this blog, I will be discussing two of the popular MPVs Honda BRV and Toyota Avanza which are in high demand among the consumers in Pakistan.
It is an MPV which was launched in April 2017 in Pakistan. The term BR-V stands for “Bold Runabout Vehicle”. Honda BRV was developed by professional R&D wing at Thailand and made its public debut at the Indonesian Auto Show back in August 2015. In Pakistan, BRV is being sold in three different variants which are i-VTEC, i-VTEC S and i-VTEC 6MT. All the three variants feature a similar design language. The only difference is their transmission modes as i-VTEC and i-VTEC S is powered with 1.5 liters EFI 4 cylinder 16 valve SOHC petrol engine which is mated with the CVT transmission. However, ani-VTEC 6MT variant is powered with a six-speed manual transmission with the same engine.
Honda BRV price in Pakistan starts from Rs.21,34,000 to Rs.23,84,000 depending on the variants you prefer to buy for yourself. The powerful 1.5-liter engine has the capability to produce 120hp (horsepower) at 6600rpm with a torque of 145Nm (nanometer) at 4600rpm. Honda BRV specifications are indeed outstanding as compared to any other brand MPV available in Pakistan Automotive Industry. The front and the rear end of the Honda BRV car is impressive and appealing. At the front, you will see a pair of auto projector headlamps, fog lights and stylish chrome grille with the company logo. The side looks of this MPV by Honda makes the consumers bit confusing as it looks more like an SUV rather than an MPV.
The measurements of Honda BR-V are in mm, length: 4456mm, width: 1735mm and height: 1666mm. The boot capacity of this MPV is 223liters and it can also be extended up to 539liters after folding its third-row seats which is quite impressive. The engine which is placed in this aggressive design MPV is also previously seen in the Honda City 1.5 liter variant. Honda BRV interior of all the three variants is almost same as it features a 2 tone plastic and soft pad interior. The plastic is of fine quality which is further highlighted with silver accents which makes the interior look even more appealing. The climate control comes in all three variants along with steering audio control. Furthermore, BR-V is equipped with a driver side airbag, which is indeed an enhanced safety feature of this MPV. When we talk about its braking system you will be glad to know that it comes with ABS as well as EBD.
The seating configuration of this MPV is 2-3-2, the leg room in the second row is ample while the access to the third-row seating is also effortless. Though, it is difficult for adults to sit in the third or second row. Overall the Honda BR-V is an impressive MPV designed by Honda for its MPV lovers across the globe, but it is a bit overpriced.
Toyota Avanza price in Pakistan is Rs.38,50,000 which is quite high as compared to its tough rival Honda BR-V in Pakistan Automotive Industry. This MPV by Toyota was launched a few years back in 2011 and now currently in its new model, Toyota Avanza is considered among one of the most expensive 7 seat MPVs available in the automotive industry. In Pakistan, Avanza is only available in one variant, which means the consumers will not have any options like BRV to choose from. It is powered with 1.5 liters 4 cylinder inline 16 valve DOHC chain driven with dual VVTi gasoline engine, which has the capability to produce 77hp (horsepower) at 6000rpm and a torque of 136Nm at 4200rpm.
Toyota Avanza engine is mated with a 5-speed manual transmission. The standard features which are seen in this stylish and standard design MPV by Toyota include dual front airbags, engine immobilizer with sound, keyless entry, fuel economy meter, halogen lamps, 15-inch alloy wheels, multi-information meter, power steering, air conditioning, stereo speaker system with USB, AUX input, CD and iPod support. Toyota Avanza offers the finest build quality as compared to its toughest rival Honda BR-V. It is also more spacious as compared to its rival interior space. Toyota Avanza interior is also quite appealing as it comes with comfortable seats with practical 7 seat capacity which is backed up with Toyota reliability.
The downside of this MPV in Pakistan Automotive Industry is its price tag, which makes it less popular among the MPV fans in the country. As the Toyota Avanza is just available in a few units across the country, its resale is also a big issue for its buyers. The same thing goes for its spare parts which are either too expensive or not available.
Well, after doing a detailed comparison of both MPVs by Honda and Toyota, I have come to a decision that Honda BR-V is without any doubt should be the first preference of any consumer, who is planning to buy an aggressive design MPV for its family. It is all because of its resale value, fuel economy, price tag, interior and many more other features, which forced me to give the decision in favor of this MPV by Honda.
